Reconciliation Week

Ananda acknowledges Tradtional Custodians, the Kaurna people, and pays respects to Elders, past and present.

On Friday 5th June 2019, Ananda marked National Reconciliation Week at both of our sites with a special afternoon tea. We placed 3 flags in our reception areas to recognize the significance of all 3 as official Australian flags. We also learnt about the Kaurna culture and language.

This is a time for us to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The chosen dates for National Reconciliation Week commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

At Ananda we are passionate about reconciliation. We acknowledge the importance of this for all Australians. To become a united country as we move forward, creating a nation based on respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
